Standard Chartered has partnered with DCS Card Centre to serve as the principal banking partner for DeCard, a groundbreaking credit card that enables users to spend stablecoins seamlessly in everyday transactions. The initiative begins in Singapore—known for its progressive stance on digital payments—before expanding to other key global markets, according to a joint announcement on Tuesday.
DeCard aims to simplify the use of digital assets, allowing holders to spend stablecoins as easily as using traditional credit cards. By connecting blockchain-based assets with existing payment networks, DeCard eliminates concerns about crypto volatility or complex conversions. This innovation represents a major step toward bridging traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi).
Standard Chartered will deliver core banking infrastructure, including virtual account services and API connectivity, enabling DCS to instantly identify and reconcile payments made by DeCard users. This integration enhances transaction speed, transparency, and reliability.
Dhiraj Bajaj, Global Head of Transaction Banking Financial Institution Sales at Standard Chartered, emphasized the bank’s role as a bridge between traditional and digital finance, stating: “Our investments in platforms, capabilities, and solutions position us as a trusted banking partner connecting TradFi to DeFi.”
Powered by DCS’s five decades of card-issuing expertise, DeCard merges institutional trust with Web3 innovation. Formerly known as Diners Club Singapore, DCS has evolved into a next-generation global payments provider focused on secure, compliant, and forward-looking financial solutions.
The DeCard launch underscores Singapore’s position as a leading hub for digital payments and crypto adoption, highlighting a growing trend among major financial institutions to integrate blockchain technology into mainstream finance.
